Shakespeare’s Sister
The Irish born songwriter named as Siobhan Fahey created the band which was known as Shakespeare’s Sister. This band was formed in the year 1988.
The Smiths take this name from the title of the song ‘Shakespeare’s Sister’ which means a division of Virginia Woolf’s feminist article ‘A Room of One’s Own’ in which argument is made by Woolf that the title of the band contains the name of the sister of William Shakespeare but he does not want to use her name in any of his band.
History
The three albums were released by the Shakespeare’s Sister such as Hormonally, SacredHeart and Yours and 3. One of his bands ‘Stay’ is well recognized and got success in Ireland and UK . This band is on the top position in the charts of UK among the top five. In 1992, this band was the biggest hit in US and is on the fourth position on the Billboard Hot 100.
The associated music video was also a knock if somewhat notorious. It describes about the destiny of a dying man in a tale of death and life that imitated their own interior efforts. The descriptions in the video were seen as an illustration of elevating the dead or witchcraft which was banned in Germany and enhancing the footprints summary.
After traveling worldwide, in 1992, Fahey cancelled the tour of Europe because of emotional and physical fatigue and consequently allowed herself into a psychiatric unit for having rigorous depression.
One of the most famous songs of Fahey ‘My 16 thApology’ was released in 1993 and achieves remarkable success following others such as ‘Prehistoric Daze’ in 1994 and ‘Waiting’ in 1995.
Then again he resurfaced as Shakespeare’s Sister in the year 1996 with the single band named as ‘I Can Drive ’ which was selected by the record company. But the records of London rejected to discharge the whole album and Fahey continuously asserts them and at last he left the album unreleased.
The Best of Shakespeare’s Sister was released in the year 2004 which includes music videos, group’s singles and the tracks. Another album named as ‘Long Live the Queens’ was released in the year 2005 which contains a tracklist of b-sides and remixes. A frequent topic of many of the songs of Shakespeare’s Sister includes blame and departure.
