Shakespeare Globe Theatre

Introduction and History

The plays of William Shakespeare were executed at many other locations during the career of playwright but the Globe Theatre was situated in the Southwark district of London where the most well known and famous stage works of Shakespeare were first created.

The Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre was built by one of his associates named as Cuthbert Burbage who was the brother of the Shakespearean actor, Richard Burbage in the year 1599. In 1597, another London theatre was inherited by the Cuthbert Burbage and called it a theatre.

He faced a problem with the expensive inheritance - the structure, theatre and the materials were possessed by Cuthbert Burbage but his father rented the land on which the Theatre was created and his eldest son was not able to settle a replenishment of the land lease.

Before creating the Globe theatre at a nearby location, Cuthbert Burbage make sure his partners and himself that they will have a tributary of lunar approval and the most prominent corporation of actors in the England.

And then the Globe theatre was built involving the main writer, William Shakespeare. Shakespeare got remarkable success after the creation of the Globe theatre during the period of 1592 and 1593 which turned the Shakespeare into a poet. In 1594, when the Globe theatres in London were reopened, then Shakespeare appears as the inspiration of extremely and invigorated vibrant of the stage world.

Structure of the Globe Theatre

The Globe theatre had about 2000-3000 viewers to watch the play. As there was no lighting so, all the concerts at this theatre were weather allowed and managed during the day from 2 P.M – 5 P.M. In this theatre, the stage was built in the open air so, the actors were forced to screech at their lines, acoustics were poor, involve in inflated dramatic motions and stress on their accent.

The most remarkable thing about the theatre is that they were entirely devoid of background outlook. There were no curtains, proscenium arch and stagehands to speak and the alterations of scene were specified implicitly or explicitly in the narrative situations and speeches which were wrote by Shakespeare in his content of the plays.

The Audience and the Actors

When the play of Shakespeare was held in the Globe Theatre, it was situated on the south side of the Thames River in the Southwark district and not in the London . It was known by ‘sporting district of Greater London’.

Globe Theatre has opened its doors for the short life of the depths and also assists an audience of well-heeled, higher status and better educated individuals. About 26 names were traced as the ‘Principal Actors’ at the Globe Theatre of Shakespeare’s company.

Shakespeare and the End of the Globe Theatre

William Shakespeare himself emerged as an actor on the stage of Globe Theatre. His name appears in the lists of casts of plays written by Elizabethan dramatists and himself and there is no sign of the roles which he has played. In 1603, Shakespeare himself acted in a play written by Ben Jonson.

The Globe Theatre was closed on 29 th June, 1613 when his roof caught fire in the concert of Henry VIII. Again, this theatre was rebuilt in the year 1614 using tiles. Shakespeare died at the age of 52 and after his death all the theatres of the country were closed.
